COSMOS2026

8th International COSMOS Workshop

29 September – 1st of October 2026

State-of-the-art and new frontiers

Cosmic-Ray Neutron Sensing (CRNS) is a technology for ground non-invasive detection of water at the land surface within a footprint of several hectares. From the first few experiments focused on estimating soil water content at the field scale, it is now integrated in several observation networks, it is deployed for monitoring snow water equivalent and it serves as a benchmark for land-surface models and remote sensing products. The technology is increasingly promoted to support agricultural water management, for improving flood, fire and erosion prediction and it shows potentiality for detecting biomass changes and space weather signals.

This international workshop brings together experts and researches interested in CRNS technology and its applications, with the aim of reviewing the state-of-the-art, sharing experiences, exploring current potentiality or discuss new frontiers and collaborations.

We hope to see you there and do not hesitate to contact us for any questions.
